Fracking Banned In New York State

The long awaited decision has been made. After announcing the results of a health study and after hearing from Department of Environmental Commissioner Martens, Governor Cuomo will permanently ban High Volume Hydraulic Fracturing in New York State. The procedure of extracting natural gas from deep below the surface was temporarily haulted by Governor Patterson in 2008.
